Beginning life in the early 1930's as a subsidiary of Michelin, Mitas established itself as a major manufacturer of quality tyres soon after the second world war, and continues to produce many of the world's best tyres in it's three enormous Czech plants.

Today the Mitas product range is unparallelled and includes tyres for a wide variety of applications, from go-karts to massive earth-moving and mining machinery. Many of the world's best industrial and agricultural equipment manufacturers specify Mitas tyres as original fitment for their machines. Mitas is equally famous for its superb off-road tyres to suit Motocross, Enduro, Safari, Junior Cross, Speedway and Trials motorcycle applications.

Mitas is the largest motorcycle tyre manufacturer in Europe. Using cutting-edge formulation and design, it produces hundreds of thousands of tyres every year, under the Mitas name as well as under contract for major tyre brands such as Michelin and Continental. Mitas tyres are used around the world in competitive and recreational applications and occupy the premium end of the off-road and adventure-rider markets.

Mitas also produce a range of more traditional tyre styles to suit vintage motocross and road bikes, mopeds and scooters.

Trelleborg is one of Europe's most recognised tyre brands in the off-road motorcycle tyre segment, and is the tyre of choice for a number of gruelling off-road competitions, particularly in Scandinavia. It fills a specific niche here in Australia with a small hard-core of loyal users, and Motorcycletyres Pty Ltd is pleased to be able to make it available to these riders once again after a short period without a local distributor.

Since 2000, all Trelleborg motorcycle tyres have been made under license by Mitas. As of early 2010, the Trelleborg name will no longer be used with motorcycle tyres, and these tyres will be rebranded Mitas 'Sport Xtreme'. Tread names such as 'Ten Master' and 'Super Master' will also no longer be used, but the familiar tread pattern numbers will be maintained with the addition of a preceding X - so, for example, the old Trelleborg Super Master T-946 will become a Mitas Sport Xtreme XT-946.

There will be some mixing of brands as stocks are turned over but rest assured, the tyre itself remains unchanged.
