E-07 and E-08: These are rugged, versatile cross-ply tyres with exceptional lifespan and superb highway manners for such hardwearing tyres. Both are designed to perform well on sealed and unsealed roads, tracks and light to intermediate off-road terrain. The E-07 is easily our most popular safari tyre, performing and lasting equally well on a wide mix of terrains, with a good mix of highway grip and self-clearing ability in softer terrains. The E08 improves road handling by having more rubber in contact with the road, but it is less adventurous off-road.
E-09 'Adventure' and E-09 'Dakar': The E09 is something of a legend among hard-core adventure riders. Tough cross-ply construction and an aggressive block tread make it supremely capable in difficult terrains like sand, mud and loose rock. Already a superb high-performance off-road rally tyre, Mitas recently reinforced the carcass and upgraded the compound to produce the Dakar version. Choose the regular ('Adventure') version where easy fitting & removal or minimal unsprung weight are important, while the beefier 'Dakar' version offers improved puncture and chip resistance and is a better choice for serious off-roading in Australian conditions. To help reduce confusion, we use the designations E09A and E09D to differentiate between the two. Telling them apart when new is easy: the Dakar version has a yellow stripe on the tread.
E-10 (belted bias): You cannot beat traditional cross-ply tyres for sheer rugged toughness and low construction cost. However, the advent of large, powerful adventure-tourers has created a need for an offroad tyre with better traction, higher load capacity and improved high-speed handling. The flexible, road-hugging nature of radial construction makes it the logical choice, but a radial tyre's softer sidewalls are more vulnerable to damage when taken off the beaten track. The answer? A hybrid, belted-bias construction that cleverly combines the sidewall strength of a cross-ply with the enhanced traction and stability of a radial. Enter the Mitas E-10, the culmination of almost a century of experience in making the world's best off-road motorcycle tyres. The large, open tread pattern means it chomps its way through mud, sand and rock as effortlessly and as securely as it eats up the highway. There is simply no better tyre to fit to your modern dual-sport machine.
All Mitas safari tyres are DOT-approved and have an S (180km/h) or T (190km/h) speed rating.

Frequently asked questions
My current tyres are (are not) tubeless. Can I fit a tubed (tubeless) tyre?
This topic seems to be a source of much misinformation and confusion, so here are the facts: the key difference between tubed and tubeless tyres is in the shape of the bead profile. A tubeless tyre creates an airtight seal only when it is mated to a tubeless rim. You can fit either type of tyre to either type of rim, but if they aren't BOTH tubeless then you MUST fit a tube as the combination cannot be relied on to hold air.
If you want to fit tubes to tubeless rims you'll probably need to modify the rims to accept the tube's valve stem. Check with a suitably qualified person to see what modifications are necessary / appropriate / legal on your bike. |
